NameCheap Hosting Review – A Quick Look Into The Cheapest Web Hosting

Contents Of This Review

Do you need a simple and intuitive hosting with only essential functions? Will you actually make use of the complex functionalities required by experts and large enterprises? Are there any particular tools that are especially useful for the industry you work in? If you ask yourself these questions it is going to be much easier to get a reliable service that will fit your budget.

NameCheap is one of those few hosting and domain registration companies that have made a huge name for themselves. We have been personally using NameCheap to buy domains and host our small websites for years now.

About Namecheap.com

Los Angeles-based NameCheap has been on the domain name registrar and web hosting scene since 2000. NameCheap was founded by Richard Kirkendall. He believed that average internet users deserved to have exceptional service and economically-priced domain names.

The company has served nearly 1 million users to date and has revealed that nearly 3 million or more domain names have been registered with them. they have also won several rewards on the internet for their unparallel customer services and ease of use. If that isn’t enough, NameCheap is also one of the cheapest companies around to buy your domain from.

NameCheap doesn’t believe that it’s a right to have domains, websites and hosting packages. They believe it’s a necessity. They also believe it’s something everyone should be able to access, not just people who know how to write code and play around with advanced dashboard features.

NameCheap’s mission is to provide all users with unbeatable service levels, first class support and the most secure data protection possible. Customers don’t get overwhelmed with upsells they don’t need or unnecessary advertising. The company’s key values are, to be honest, friendly, straightforward and helpful at all times.

We are completely satisfied by their strong customer support and extra features that are provided. Today we are going to talk about namecheap’s hosting services which are not as popular as their domain buying services.

But we have had a positive experience hosting with NameCheap. So before we dig into the review, let us just tell you a little more about Namecheap.

Namecheap Hosting Price & Plans

NameCheap’s primary advantage is their pricing. It’s cheap – like, shockingly cheap.

But cheap is not necessarily the same as good value. To figure that out, we have to see how hosting pricing is structured.

Web hosting companies are all selling the same thing – a home for your website – but they all have different plans with different caps, different bonuses and different renewal prices. For most, figuring out their true value requires a breakdown into different parts.

To compare “apples to apples” among hosting companies, I break things down into Core hosting features and Bonus hosting features. Core hosting features are the “3 D’s” – domains, databases and disk space. The core purpose of a hosting server is to serve website files when someone types in your domain name.

Shared Hosting

Shared hosting plans range from $18.44 per year to $57.88 per year. At the low end, you get 20gb of storage and at the high end, you get unlimited storage. Data transfer is unlimited already in the basic plan. And the number of sites you can host with a single plan ranges from 3 to unlimited!

Namecheap Hosting Price
  • 3 Plans to choose from.
  • Up to 3 websites on the smallest plan where most only offer 1 site and unlimited on the biggest plan.
  • Sub-domains range from 30 – unlimited.
  • All plans have unlimited bandwidth.
  • Plenty of autoresponders, databases, email accounts and email forwarding accounts, depending on your plan choice.
  • A healthy amount of disc space.
  • A long list of other features that easily compare to other providers.

VPS Hosting

VPS web hosting plans range from $9.88 per month to $17.88 per month. Bandwidth limits range from 1000gb to 3000gb and while that might sound like a step down from the unlimited bandwidth on shared plans, you have to keep in mind that you are not sharing your VPS the same way you share a shared server. So you get way more power, more control, and better performance.

Namecheap VPS Hosting

There are two VPS plans to choose from-

  • You get everything the shared plans offer and a lot more as well.
  • All plans are easy to upgrade/downgrade when necessary.
  • You get higher priority support service, receiving answers ahead of people on shared plans.
  • VPS plans hosted on the lightning-fast networks in Phoenix, Arizona so page speeds are unbelievably quick, often faster than dedicated servers provided by other hosting companies.
  • One or only a few customers use a server under these plans. This means there are enormous stability and performance benefits and no downtime (as guaranteed by Namecheap).

Choose to self-manage, half-manage or have Namecheap fully manage your server for you. If you manage it yourself, you: can choose the operating system, have reboot access, root access and the ability to do reinstalls on the server. If you have it fully managed for you, you only have Reseller access as the server configurations are handled by the technical staff at Namecheap.

Dedicated Hosting

This is the most powerful and reliable (but also most expensive) type of server you can use. Dedicated server web hosting plans range from $47.88 per month to $298.88 per month.

Namecheap Hosting Review 2021

But for that price, the hardware and software that make up the server are dedicated to you and your needs—no sharing, no virtual networks, just a dependable and dedicated server. You can even choose to self-manage the server if you want additional control! If you ever require more flexibility and power when it comes to web hosting, then we just have the right recommendation for you…

A lot of different plans to meet your needs. You get everything available in the shared and VPS plans but some quantities may be bigger. These plans are ideal for sites with a lot of site traffic. You have your own server so you can choose to do it all yourself or have Namecheap manage it for you.Prices to suit all budgets.

Uptime & Reliability Of Namecheap

NameCheap promises an uptime of 99.9% per calendar month. To ensure the delivery of its guarantee, Namecheap employs the latest hardware and software firewalls, as well as the recent server models from HP, Dell, and Supermicro. All servers have at least two processors, 16 GB of RAM and four hard drives with RAID protection. This test is performed by measuring the % uptime of a host. Higher is better. Learn more about the Uptime Test.

Namecheap performs mediocre in the Uptime test, with an average result of 99.93 percent. Its best run was 100.00 % but has been as bad as 92.92 %. Namecheap’s most recent result on August 13 was 100.00 percent. Namecheap has had a few significant outages (more than a few minutes) since I started testing them. It’s nothing horrendous, but other hosts have better reliability.

Namecheap Control Panel

All of Namecheap’s hosting plans come with the latest version of cPanel except for the VPS hosting plans and its dedicated servers. On most of these, cPanel can be added as an optional extra.

cPanel is the basic need of every administrator. We haven’t seen a company that doesn’t offer cPanel because it is that important. However, several companies can still limit the cPanel features for its users. Since namecheap’s cPanel comes with every feature you can imagine, it makes it great for technical individuals. You can also use namecheap’s to migrate your domains to their servers with just a few clicks.

  • No refunds are available for the following: Any additional features, services or upgrades added to your Web Hosting package and purchased at additional fee, Fees related to domain name registrations associated with your Web Hosting package, Any renewals of Web Hosting and related Service(s).

Namecheap Hosting Customer Support

One of the reasons why NameCheap became so popular in the first place is due to its extremely good customer service. We have never had any issues with their customer support. We are glad that NameCheap puts in such a huge effort to make sure that your queries are answered as soon as possible. During our several years with the company, we have yet to be disappointed with their customer support.

They also have super helpful video tutorials like this one below to go along with their easy to use control panel and 24-hour customer service.

Luckily, all boys and girls at NameCheap support centre were more than accommodating me and my whims. Not that I misused them or anything, I was just a big pain in the ass. Constantly calling, making support tickets for almost anything, just to see will they loose their temper and tell me to get lost. That did not happen. At all times they maintained their professional attitude and I am more that satisfied with them.

Namecheap Review 2021 – Conclusion

Overall, I found NameCheap Hosting to be a good budget hosting option. If you are starting a very small website, concerned more about price than plan limitations,

If you are looking for an independent shared hosting company with better performance, customer support, and plan options then I recommend checking out  FastComet Review 2021
